COLUMBIA, SC – U.S. Congressman Gresham Barrett’s gubernatorial campaign today announced Ashby Rhame, Bob Reagan and Greg Thompson will serve as its Sumter County Co-Chairs. County co-chairs play a pivotal role in Barrett’s statewide grassroots efforts by spreading Barrett’s conservative vision for job creation, organizing their respective communities, providing the campaign with valuable feedback, and keeping local supporters up-to-date on campaign news and events.
Ashby Rhame, a retired Army Intelligence Officer, noted Barrett’s record of public service to the citizens of our state and our nation in discussing his support for the Republican Congressman.
“Gresham Barrett is a dedicated and humble public servant,” said Rhame. “He served our country in the U.S. Army as a Captain in the First Calvary, and he is the only candidate for Governor who has held public office at both the state and federal levels. I believe these leadership experiences make Gresham uniquely qualified to step in and serve as Governor from day one.”
Bob Reagan, Sumter District 2 School Board Trustee, added, “Gresham is focused on creating jobs for our hard-working families, and he knows that one of the keys to economic development is having an educated workforce. Gresham’s vision for improving our schools includes ensuring students have a safe and disciplined learning environment and that teachers have the freedom and tools they need for success. I look forward to doing all that I can to make sure Gresham Barrett is South Carolina’s next Governor.”

Gresham Barrett is the only Republican candidate for Governor who has built an active statewide grassroots organization. Barrett leads all candidates for Governor, both Republican and Democrats, in fundraising with more than $1.3 million cash on hand at the close of the third financial reporting period.
