GREENVILLE, S.C. — In the race for South Carolina Governor it is issue number one, jobs. In the race for governor of South Carolina, the No. 1 issue is jobs; not just saving them but finding more.

On Monday, Republican Gresham Barrett released his, “Putting South Carolina back to work plan of action.”

Barrett said, “We are traveling around talking about how we can put South Carolina back to work.”

Barrett’s plan includes overhauling the Department of Commerce and hiring a new head of business recruiting.

He also wants to increase incentives for companies to move to the Palmetto State and wants to fill open jobs now.

For example, the Employment Security Commission says there are jobs available, however in many cases people are not qualified.

Barrett said that needs to change. “We can take workforce development funds take these employees put them to work immediately and train them on sight. It could be 20,000 jobs it could be 40,000 jobs but that is immediately putting people to work to help this economy.”

Meanwhile, a campaign video we found on YouTube, Republican Henry McMaster is also talking about how as governor he would change things.

He calls it his, “Path to Prosperity”, which contains what he calls 10 basic principles of economic reform.

It includes lowering taxes, creating a better-educated workforce, and not just more jobs but higher – paying jobs.
