Founder of Leading National Immigration Reform Organization Backs Barrett

COLUMBIA, SC – With only two weeks left until the primary, Gresham Barrett continues to gain momentum, today picking up another major endorsement.  Jim Gilchrist, founder of the Minuteman Project, visited South Carolina today to announce his support of Gresham Barrett for Governor.  Mr. Gilchrist founded the Minuteman Project in 2004 after years of frustrated efforts trying to get the federal government to enforce immigration laws.
“The first job of government is to protect its citizens, and it is critical to have leaders who will strengthen and enforce immigration laws,” said Gilchrist.  “In South Carolina, there is only one candidate for Governor I trust to fight alongside us. Gresham Barrett. Gresham wants to take his state back for South Carolinians and take action where the federal government has failed to protect our citizens.  That’s a plan I can endorse.”
Congressman Barrett thanked Mr. Gilchrist, saying, “I’m honored to have Jim’s support.  I look forward to having Jim as a partner in this fight.  I have a plan to pass an Arizona-style immigration plan right here in our state, enforce employee verification to protect South Carolina jobs and equip our local law enforcement officers with the ability to enforce federal immigration laws.  If we are going to take our state back, we are going to do it one state at a time.  And we are going to start right here in South Carolina.”
The Gresham Barrett Immigration Plan:
1. Pass An Arizona-Style Immigration Law In South Carolina.

My family applauds and fully supports passing an Arizona-Style Immigration Law in South Carolina, and hopes all other states follow suit, since the federal government did not enforce the illegal immigration laws, allowing 50 Million latinos into America with a huge influx of them without proper immigration papers be be allowed to stay in America. Our federal government has rules, regulations and federal laws of the land that prohibit illegal immigration and make it a crime to enter the U.S. illegally by just deciding to walk across the border. It’s time somebody in federal and state government stood up for the U. S. A. citizens, and not illegal latinos in making them abide by the federal laws and state laws and enforcing them. Since illegal immigrants and undocumented workers crossed our border illegally, they should not be allowed to stay in our country under any circumstances no matter how long they have worked in America illegally without proper immigrant papers. Also, the companies who trafficked them in illegally to work corporate jobs should be prosecuted and fined/spend jail time, since the company that brought them into America illegally is responsible to pay for their federal crime also. Americans are very tired of watching the Mexican drug cartels cross our borders and commit crimes agains U.S. American citizens. The human trafficking, illegal drugs trafficking, violent crimes against American citizens must stop in all states, and we need to enforce the U. S. border with better border patrol and stop the influx of illegal immigrants (aliens) from Mexico, Guatamala, Honduras, Dominican Republic, Haites, Cuba, Columbia & Venezula & South America, or via any other illegal entry into the U.S. We have U. S. Immigration and Customs federal laws , ICE agents, federal and state agents, border patrol and U. S. state troopers and sheriffs should be given the authority to police and protect our American citizens from the crimes brought upon them through illegal immigration. If a person from another country wants to become a USA citizen, they need to get in line and follow the U.S. Immigration and Customs federal and states laws to become a citizen for the period of time necessary to become a legal U.S. citizen. The E-Verify is a good way to start processing all immigrants to see if they are legal or need green cards to work in the U.S.A. If not, they need to be fined, prosecuted for their crime of illegal entry into the U.S., and deported back to their national country they came from illegally. Americans can no longer stand this illegal immigrant influx of people to come into the USA and take our jobs, and subject us to their illegal status as well as crimes againts US citizens. It is the federal governments, and state governments job to enforce the laws of the U.S.A., and protect our U. S. citizens from these dangers. Some of these illegal immigrants, coyotes, drug cartels, and prior foreign national criminals from other countries commit serious violent crimes against our US citizens when they are allowed to just walk across our borders with no legal papers to be in the US; and, we lose track of them and do not know where they are until they commit a crime against the American citizens and are arrested. This must end by police authority enforcement through our government officials. Americans deserve better than this, and illegal immigration has gone on long enough without proper and ICE federal enforcement and better border foot patrol, US National Guard military agents trained to enforce the US border as in the military, and border fencing that never got finished, as well as computerized surveillence. We hope somebody in government will continue the fight against illegal immigrants crimes and taking our jobs then leaving Americans unemployed. Foreign trade is not near as important as protecting US cizens born and living right here in the United States against illegal immigration which has spiralled out of control and needs to be stopped right here, right now in America. GOD BLESS AMERICA, AND FREE US FROM THESE OBSTACLES!
