Strong Conservative Voting Record, Real Practitioner of Transparency, and Early Support of Jim DeMint Show That Barrett Is The “Real Conservative”

COLUMBIA, SC – Conservatives of America today officially endorsed Gresham Barrett for Governor of South Carolina. Below is the text of the release issued by Conservatives of America:
“Gresham Barrett is the real conservative in this runoff,” said Bill Murphy, Founder of Conservatives of America. “He is the candidate who is in line with the Tea Party movement – less government and more personal responsibility – as evidenced by the influx of Conservative Tea Party activists who have joined his campaign in the past 48 hours,” said Murphy.

Over the years, Mr. Barrett has walked the walk and fought the fight for conservative principles. Further evidence of walking the walk, instead of just talking the talk, is the fact that Gresham Barrett is the only candidate in next Tuesday’s GOP Gubernatorial runoff who has released his tax returns, as well as fully disclosed all of his contributors for the runoff. Voters in South Carolina can see that Gresham Barrett pays his taxes and pays them on time, and they can see who is financing his campaign for Governor. His opponent’s silence, on the other hand, is deafening. Gresham Barrett has rock solid conservative credentials:

• Voted against every major Obama spending package, and repeatedly voted against even his own party’s budget increases.
• Is a staunch opponent in Congress to the radical socialist agenda of the White House Administration.
• Authored Legislation to cut $520 billion from the federal budget.
• Led the fight to enact the South Carolina Partial Birth Abortion Law.

For those conservatives who know and have followed Gresham Barrett, his track record should not be surprising. He was one of the key conservative leaders who came forward early on when Jim DeMint was not a household name in South Carolina, and supported Jim DeMint in the critical runoff which led to Senator DeMint’s election to the U.S. Senate. Gresham Barrett has been in the foxhole for conservatives over the years and he has not blinked. Now it is time for conservatives in South Carolina to rally behind the real conservative in next Tuesday’s race, and nominate Gresham Barrett for Governor of South Carolina.
